To create opportunities and an environment for Organisations and Individuals to COME and join us by investing in and uplifting our community. This involvement will enable them to CONNECT with others within the community. By sharing our time, knowledge and resources this will grow the community, uplift those involved and empower them to BE MORE.
The PlanPHASE 1: A Permaculture vegetable garden.
Permaculture is the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient and is a fully organic way of growing plants. The vegetable garden would benefit the community in the following ways: - Grow vegetables that can be used to feed those who attend our soup kitchen.
- Teach people a way of growing vegetables in their own communities, using only the resources at their disposal and in a limited space, thus being able to feed themselves and their families.
- Provide limited employment opportunities.
- Sell the produce to the surrounding community to provide them with a source of organic vegetables.
- Create a pleasing green environment that people can walk through and get relief from the urban environment surrounding us.
- Provide education as to how vegetables are propagated.
- Provide a continued revenue stream to sustain the garden.
PHASE 2: Craft and food market with the following objectives:
- Provide a market for people making crafts and food.
- Provide a safe environment for people to meet.
- Provide opportunities for crafters to pass their skills onto others so that they can make their own goods for sale.
- Provide a continued revenue stream to sustain the garden.
PHASE 3: Coffee shop and children's party venue
- The area in which the church is situated has limited coffee shop type venues which are not chain type venues. In doing our research it was found that people have a desire to go to venues that are not part of a chain and that are not situated in a shopping mall.
- During non trading hours, the coffee shop can be used as a more informal venue for programmes that are run by the church e.g. grief and divorce support.
- The coffee shop and craft area to be used for live music performances and can showcase local talent.
- Provide a continued revenue stream to sustain the garden.
